Strider's Web Tools!
This page-set is the one for code links; HTML, DHTML, XML, Java, and all the other mark-up and language
sets used on the web. If you plan to build your own pages, a basic understanding of HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language)
is nessisary. When you have that down, there are a lot of other tools you can use to create world-class web sites.
The JAVA section includes true JAVA, JavaScript, and JScript. Which one you use will depend on what you want to do and who's browsers you want to be able to see it. The MouseOver effects on this page were written in JavaScript, and use Object Detection rather than browser detection to decide when the script will run. That allows me to use a single script for all versions of all browsers,
without those tacky "Script Error" messages poping up. If a browser cannot handle the script, it will not run it at all.
The DHTML and XML code is only good for people running 4.0 browsers or better. As usual, the Microsoft and Netscape versions support different tags, implemented in different ways. Neither one is fully W3 complient, so I recommend learning the W3C version.
Have fun learning to build your own pages, or adding to your arsenal of web tricks! If you build something you would like to share, Email me with your URL so I can go take a look!
