One of the most exciting aspects of high-speed Internet access is the ability to join other people from around the world in real-time events. These can be concerts or theater performances "WebCast" across the net; TV and radio programs from just about anywhere on (or off) the Earth; or events that only happen in cyberspace that you could never attend, because the musicians playing together are in net-connected studios in 5 separate countries! There's also News programs, real-time audio and video chats you can join and ask questions, and a whole lot more!

Unfortunately, if you're seeing this page with less than the bandwidth of a Cable Modem or at least a T1, you don't have the bandwidth you need to really enjoy ALL of these links. Most of them are set up to be usable at slower connect-speeds though, with server-detection of your link determining which data-density you will be sent. As compression algorithms continue to improve, computer speeds increase, and the new gigabit backbone deploys, the local modem bottleneck will become a bit less relevant. Don't worry, though, there are new bandwidth-hogs being developed every day that will counteract this.
